Nicholas Clapham

Biography
Nick qualified as a solicitor in Southampton. He was commissioned into the Army Legal Services and retired in the rank of Colonel. During his service his practice alternated between criminal prosecution (courts-martial), and advice on operational/law of armed conflict (from MOD to deployed forces). Following early retirement, Nick worked as a personal trainer helping people achieve their health and fitness goals before beginning his first teaching appointment at the University in 2014. He has also taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law. His academic interests include Public Law, Criminal Law, the Law of Criminal Evidence, Use of Force and International Humanitarian Law. He was the Oxford University Press Law Teacher of the Year for 2017 and was appointed a Recorder (part-time judge) in 2019.
