Many of our masters students progress on to a PhD in an area they’re passionate about, while others take up a wide range of exciting roles in industry. On graduation day, we caught up with Chutima Termsuk, who studied for our Medical Physics MSc and is now undertaking a PhD at Surrey in radiation dosimetry.

Our PhD students go on to a range of exciting roles in industry and research, often applying their knowledge to help solve global challenges. We caught up with former PhD student Richard Oduro, who is now part of SUPERGEN, a major collaborative hub focused on next generation energy networks.

On graduation day we caught up with Vincent Yuan, the graduate speaker at the ceremony who was sponsored by the Hong Kong government to study on Surrey’s MSc Bridge Engineering.

As I didn’t consider myself very academic at school, I thought it would be quite an achievement to get a PhD. It is one of the best things I have ever done.

My professors were excellent and I received a solid engineering background which has benefited me throughout my career.

Graduation was amazing, the Alan Turing statue was very inspirational and there were some epic parties!

The people at Surrey were so welcoming that during my five years it felt like my second family. The Department is amazing and it's so supportive.
