At the end of my first year, I had an amazing opportunity to shadow one of my professors. Being able to observe her conducting research helped me understand that I would like to become a virology researcher.

My placement has helped me grow and I feel more prepared to return in my final year as a well-rounded sports science student, with a stronger skill set and clearer direction for my future.

Over the summer, I had the privilege of working at Samlon Recordings in Johannesburg, South Africa. This experience not only deepened my technical knowledge but also exposed me to new cultural perspectives and professional practices in a global setting.

I feel like I am already working as a solicitor since the course is very practical and real. The course is built in a way that will enhance my skills.

I particularly valued the consistent support from both lab assistants and lecturers, who were always available to help with any questions. The university also provided additional support through bootcamps, office hours, and the PALS scheme, which helped me with my studies.

When faced with the choice of coming to Surrey and doing a foundation year, or going to another university, I chose Surrey. I knew a foundation year would make me feel more confident about my choice of studying Law.

The Foundation Year has made me much more confident academically and personally. The skills we were taught, including how to write essays and how to reference, have been a great help in the first year.
